“Arcesium's navigation bar suffered from information overload due to an excessive number of links. This lack of clear information architecture made it difficult for users to identify and access the applications & pages listed. Furthermore, the presence of a secondary navigation system added complexity to the user's exploration of the platform. Additionally, the absence of visual design elements in the navigation bar resulted in a visually unappealing and uninspiring experience & the lack of a distinct color palette caused the navigation bar to blend seamlessly into the application screens, further hindering its usability.”😣😵
MY ROLE: Lead Designer
I worked in close collaboration with the Product Owner, other product managers, Development team to execute the project.
DURATION: 3 months
September’23 - December’23
The comprehensive redesign spanned 3 months, beginning with in-depth user research to understand user needs and pain points. This was followed by iterative design phases, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and culminating in a final design ready for development. The project concluded with a seamless handover to the development team, ensuring a smooth transition to the implementation phase.
RE-DESIGN PROCESS
I saw the current design of the navigation bar causing a range of user experience issues:
- The navigation bar's color, blending with the application screens, fails to provide a clear visual boundary.
- The lack of a clear information structure and visual design elements makes navigation less intuitive and more time-consuming.
- Users struggle to find specific features due to the clutter of app and page links.
- These design shortcomings lead to user frustration and lower engagement with the platform.
- based on Self Exploration & Product KT, i laid out a detailed Step by Step Process to re-design the Navbar.

“Decoding user's pain points on the platform was like trying to navigate a maze in the dark, armed only with a caffeine drip and a sense of humor. It was a UX designer's version of an extreme sport, fueled by the power of endless coffee breaks.” ☕
